TreasureTress April Box Review!

Welcome back, Lovelies!

If you’re a regular at reading my monthly TreasureTress box reviews you’ll know that this happens to be one of my favourite blog posts to create because I’m obsessed with all that TreasureTress are and what they provide for my hair on a monthly basis!

This month’s box was a full takeover yet again by a brand I truly love and believe in. Not only do Shea Moisture provide exceptional quality products but they also have a really strong ethos so I’m super happy to have been sent products by Shea Moisture through TreasureTress in this month’s “Deep Condition and Chill” box!

SUPERFRUIT 10-IN-1 MULTI-BENEFIT SHAMPOO

The first product in this month’s box is from the Shea Moisture Superfruit range which I hadn’t tried prior to receiving it through TreasureTress…

I’ve really enjoyed the silky consistency of this product; it cleanses my scalp thoroughly and it contains one of my current faves – Biotin! I’ve recently been taking Biotin supplements because it aims to tackle hair loss by strengthening the root of your tresses, so I was even more amped up to try the Shea Moisture Superfruit 10-in-1 Multi-Benefit Shampoo (tongue-twizzler!) to determine how well it would strengthen and retain the elasticity of my curls!

I’d noticed during the first couple of uses that the shampoo lathered gradually – not too much, but gradually – which I like. I tend to dislike products that result in an instant lather as that suggests it’s heavy in sulfates, but Shea Moisture has always been free of this so the fact it provides a slight lather, without the damage that sulfates can cause, is a great bonus!

Marula Oil – another ingredient within this product and range – works really well for my curls and has an evident impact after washing them. Marula Oil combats oiliness whilst keeping your curls moisturised. Marula Oil has anti-oxidant properties which are great for combating hair breakage and amps up the protective seal surrounding each individual strand, therefore protecting your curls overall.

SUPERFRUIT 10-IN-1 MULTI-BENEFIT CONDITIONER

The second product in this month’s TreasureTress box is the Superfruit 10-in-1 Multi-Benefit Conditioner.

I use this to compliment the Shampoo otherwise I’ll use the Conditioner to co-wash instead as it’s not a heavy product at all. Similar to the Shampoo, it has anti-oxidant properties and works really well for all hair types. My Sister and Mother have different textured curls to my own and both agree that they like the performance of this product!

I appreciate this product because it age-defies which a lot of natural products don’t state that they do. If you find your hair is thinning, or want to colour protect your hair, then this product does that really well. It’s not massively heavy but at the same time is quite impressionable and I noticed how hydrated my curls were after using this.

On top of it’s performance, I love the scent of this line! When you initially smell it, it’s extremely rich with it’s fruity concoction which has a subtle linger once your curls are dry, so if you don’t want your curls to be over-powered but still want the comfort of a scent, then this is the product for you!

SUPERFRUIT COMPLEX 10-IN-1 MULTI-BENEFIT MASQUE

The third product provided is the Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Multi-Benefit Masque.

This masque reminds me a lot of the Fruit Fusion Weightless Masque by Shea Moisture and I’d definitely recommend using it as a Summer masque. It’s lightweight enough to be duped as a Conditioner but equally packs enough punch to do exactly what a masque needs to do – and that’s deep condition!

This medium consistency masque smells just like the Shampoo and Conditioner so compliments the range well. I used it separately and found that the masque compliments the scents and properties within varying ranges, too! In comparison to the Raw Shea Butter Masque I didn’t find it as complimentary to the elasticity of my curls personally, but I’ll definitely continue to reuse this masque and the range. Out of the entire Shea Moisture range, this by far has to be the most attractive in it’s scent!

RAW SHEA BUTTER EXTRA-MOISTURE DETANGLER

The fourth product in this month’s TreasureTress box is the Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler!

I know everyone uses this in different ways but I personally use it as a conditioner! This range is specific to providing that little extra moisture so naturally this can be used to accompany a conditioner on wash day or used as it’s replacement.

Originally I thought the detangler bottle shape was a lot slimmer than I expected, however it’s rich and deeply moisturising properties means only a small sized amount is required. Don’t get me wrong, if your curls have been swept up into a top bun for the last two weeks then I’m sure you’ll need a thorough detangle, but for your weekly use only a small amount is required to get the job done!

The silkiness of this product allows you to work your fingers into your curls and delicately detangle using the raking method. I find this so much gentler for my curls, too! This detangler is really subtle in scent so if you’re quite sensitive to strong scents this is definitely a product to try!

RAW SHEA BUTTER DEEP TREATMENT MASQUE

The final and fifth product in this month’s magnificent TreasureTress box is yet another hair mask!

IMG_5586.jpg

I like using this masque in two particular ways; the first way being the standard; rake it through your curls, let it sink in, do it’s magic, and then rinse out. The other, which has recently become my favourite thing to do, is slightly warm the hair masque giving the illusion of a hot oil treatment and let it penetrate your curls for 20-30 minutes. The more you use, the better. I love that it’s so rich and really hydrates my curls, whilst maintaining its subtle scent throughout (although slightly more noticeable than the scent of the detangler!)

This masque has an extra thick consistency so layers onto my curls quite nicely. If you’re in need of a hair masque which works well for transitioning hair or you have curls that require an extra pick me up – this is definitely the one to do it!

Surprisingly this is probably the first time that I can say I don’t know which one out of the five products was my favourite or most reached for this month! I really enjoyed the Raw Shea Butter range but I was pleasantly surprised by the Superfruit range, too.

Overall I loved the scent of both ranges. Both had a noticeable scent however the Raw Shea range was slightly more subtle whilst the Superfruit Multi-Benefit range was noticeably stronger, both in the shower and once my curls had dried!

I found the Raw Shea Butter range to be quite versatile, I managed to use both the products included in this month’s box in multiple ways so they weren’t at all ‘boring’ products and gave me varying results upon different uses. Saying this, I loved the consistency of the Superfruit Multi-Benefit range because each time I used it, I found my curls to have extremely noticeable definition!

I’d highly recommend both ranges and I’m pretty adamant I’ll be using the products over and over again in the coming months!
