Protective styling for 3A/B Curls!

Although we’re in March right now, the cold weather has been excruciating and it’s affected my curls and what seems like the whole of the curly-head community quite severely.

With that said, sometimes it can be quite boring to do a top bun as a method to protect your curls from the harsh Winter weather and overall braids do the job quite well!

Although I didn’t do them myself, two french braids along with some Xpression extensions are simple, trendy and cheap. You can purchase Xpression extensions from any local hair shop or go online and simply type in ‘Xpression extensions‘. I’ve used mine in a lighter colour as the lighter tones blended in with my natural hair colour give a nice highlighted effect. tempImageForSave (2)

Overall, it took about 15-20 minutes and is a hairstyle which should be sustainable dependent on how well you take care of your hair, although I’d also recommend re-braiding if you find that your hair is more fine and will loosen from the braids more easily than 4A-C curls.

I recommend ensuring your hair has been recently washed and nourished with the necessary oils, such as Coconut oil and Jamaican Black Castor oil, to allow them to nourish your natural hair whilst braided up.

The added gold rings can also be purchased online or from your local hair shop-I believe the ones I’ve used came in a pack for about £1.99.

I’m sure you are all hoping that we have warmer days ahead sooner rather than later, but in the meantime, stay warm!

If you have any suggestions for similar protective styling, then please share these with me!
