You’ve probably seen 101 different ‘Get to know Me’ tags spanning across Blogs and YouTube…and yes it is repetitive but I’m doing it anyways!
I wanted to do something a bit more personal and this would have probably made for a really great, first blog post but here we go anyways…
I googled this and having read a number of Blogs which featured this I thought I’d pick random questions from a list of 95 and narrow it down so I don’t bore you all!
So other than what you already know…I hope you learn something new and potentially find somethings a little interesting?!
What is your full name?
My full name is Alexandra Sophie Field-Graham, however my mother gave me my Kenyan name, Gathoni, when I was little so I’ve since gone by Alexandra (Ally) Gathoni for short.
Are you named after anyone?
Yes. One of my mother’s friends is called Alexandra and I was named after her. My Kenyan name, Gathoni, is also my grandmother’s Kenyan name.
What does your name mean?
‘Gathoni’ means shy I believe? Which to some extent is understandable because I have introvert tendencies.
Where are you from?
I’m mixed Kenyan and English.
What is your biggest regret?
Honestly, knowing what I know now and living independently in the ‘real world’, my biggest regret was not saving enough cash during Uni to prepare me for any set backs! Whilst at University you have the support of University loans and Student loans, but when working a normal 9-5 that is literally all you have to survive! With that said, I’ll be exploring this further in a future blog post to come!
What are your biggest fears?
If you follow me on Snapchat (alexandra-field) you’d have recently seen my rant about having an irrational fear of having a car that breaks down…yes, that is a genuine and irrational fear of mine!! I guess you could also say my other irrational fear is my fear of spiders. A more genuine fear though, is that I fear failure/drastic change…I’m not one who handles those kind of things well!
What is at the top of your bucket list?
I’m in the middle of writing my novel, finding the ‘right’ agent to send it to and making it a best-seller. That’s at the top of my bucket list.
What was the last book you read?
The last novel I read was ‘The Girl with all the Gifts’ by Mike Carey. Honestly such a fantastic book!!
What is your favourite quote?
‘I go forth along and stand as ten thousand’
Fun fact: I have this as a tattoo on my ribs, which I altered to say ‘I go forth alone and stand as ten thousand.’ This was taken from Maya Angelou’s poem ‘Our Grandmothers’ which I dedicated to my grandmother when I had it tattooed! My grandmother only found out I had this tattoo when I showed her over the past weekend!
What is your star sign?
Do you have a lucky number?
Lucky number 14!
Have you ever suffered a fracture?
Yes, unfortunately. I’ve fractured my nose before, hence the slight bump on the bridge of my nose!
What is your favourite thing about yourself?
I love how creative my mind is…keeps me occupied when I’m bored!
If you could give your younger self any advice what would it be?
Love yourself more and just be comfortable with who you are.
I hope you learnt something new and enjoyed this blog post! I have a number of blog posts lined up and I’m looking forward to sharing them with you soon!
As always, I’d like to end with a quote…
“Love yourself and follow your dreams, because if you want it bad enough…it will happen!”
